The 2015 St. Mark's High School Boys Basketball Team joined our cause this year holding a Muscle Up Shoot-a-Thon, sharpening their game while assisting a local Muscle Champion!
Started by NCAA Division I All-American Wrestler, Hall of Fame Coach, Polymyositis Survivor, and Muscle Movement Foundation Advocate, Coach Mike Powell, the phrase "In Relentless Pursuit" has been utilized by wrestlers around the country inspiring them to succeed in life. Wrestlers inspired by Coach Mike Powell's wrestling accomplishments, coaching, and life morals have fueled their wrestling careers with "In Relentless Pursuit" being their backbone. Priding themselves on hard work, relentlessness, family, and unity, wrestlers are striving to be the best they can be on the mat. In proudly carrying themselves with the motives of "In Relentless Pursuit" Wrestling, they are conjointly building the motives in being the best they can be, in everyday life! In Relentless Pursuit! The 2015 H.B. du Pont Middle School's Track Team decided to run for a greater purpose than a gold medal this year! The student-athletes were inspired to 'RUN For STRENGTH' after learning about their fellow classmates who are living with muscle disease. The team represented by wearing the Muscle Movement Foundation logo and the phrase 'RUN For STRENGTH' on their track uniform shirts at their conference championship!
The 2015 University of Iowa Wrestling Team joined Team 'Muscle Up' this year wrestling to 'Pin Muscle Disease'! The team wore custom Iowa Wrestling Pin Muscle Disease warmups at their dual meet against the University of Maryland. In addition, the wrestlers distributed the shirts to family and friends that wore them as they traveled with the team! The Hawkeyes not only represented for our cause this year but also provided Hawkeye Wrestling Gear to be sold for the cause! The Iowa Wrestling Team was ranked as high as number one in the nation this year. Congratulations to the team for finishing second place at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships while wrestling to Pin Muscle Disease for our Muscle Champions!
The 2015 University of Maryland Wrestling Team joined Team 'Muscle Up' this year for the second consecutive season. The team honored our name and mission statement during a home dual meet against the University of Iowa. The team wore custom Maryland Wrestling 'Pin Muscle Disease' warmups for the match! In addition to honoring our cause and our Muscle Champions, the team gathered after the match to hear our Founder/President Rob DeMasi's wrestling accomplishments, survivor story, and inspiration in forming the MMF!
The 2015 St. Mark's Girls Winter and Spring Track Team joined Team 'Muscle Up' this year to 'RUN For STRENGTH'! Wearing custom St. Mark's Track and Field RUN For STRENGTH shirts to their meets, they ran for a greater purpose than a gold medal. The girls competed while raising awareness and donations for our Muscle Champions!
The 2015 season marked the third consecutive season the HB Warriors Wrestling team has joined Team Muscle Up, wrestling to "Pin Muscle Disease"! In addition to wearing custom HB Wrestling Pin Muscle Disease warmups, they honored fellow classmate and DMD Muscle Champion (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Survivor), Eddie, before the national anthem of their conference championship. For three seasons they have wrestled to "Pin Muscle Disease", and for three seasons they remain undefeated!
The 2015 Oak Park River Forest High School Wrestling Team did not only finish the season as Illinois State Champions, National Champions, and the Number 1 Ranked High School Wrestling Team in the nation, but also wrestled for our cause! Coached by Indiana University All-American and PM Muscle Champion (Polymyositis Survivor), Mike Powell, the young men were more than happy to wrestle for our cause. In addition to pinning their opponents all season, they wrestled to 'Pin Muscle Disease', raising awareness across the country. In their fundraising efforts, they were able to provide assistance to local IBM Muscle Champion (Inclusion-Body Myositis Survivor), Jane! The 2014 Henry B. du Pont Middle School Wrestling Team wrestled to 'Pin Muscle Disease' this season! They designed custom made H.B. Warriors 'Wrestling MG' shirts worn at every match throughout the season. 'MG' is the abbreviation for myasthenia gravis, a disease of the neuromuscular junction that causes extreme muscle fatigue, weakness, and paralysis. In addition to winning for our Muscle Champions by raising awareness, the team went undefeated and were crowned 2014 Conference Champions!
